Squiggle The Provincial Robbie Burn’s Carvery

On Sunday 26th of January 2025 at the Maidstone Masonic Centre, Tovil, the Provincial Priory of Kent and the Boxley Abbey Preceptory No.402 hosted an Sunday Robbie Burn’s Carvery event, enjoyed by 140 Knights, Ladies and Gentleman.

The event started off with the Provincial Prior R.E.Kt. David Jordan K.C.T. welcoming everyone to the Sunday luncheon and Scottish Grace was delivered by the Provincial Almoner E.Kt. Brett Portman. The traditional haggis was then piped in by Keith Jacobs accompanied by E.Kt. Angus Rhodes who gave an excellent address to the Haggis. During the different courses E.Kt. Angus entertained everyone with some of Robbie Burn’s famous poetry. The diners were then served a scrumptious three meat carvery with haggis as the starter and Cranachan for Desert.

The charity raffle was conducted by Kt. Geoffrey Dixon and E.Kt. Maurice Stanford and comically compared by E.Kt. Mark Woolcott. The raffle raised a brilliant total of £1200 and a collection bucket of £28.45 for the Hospice in the Weald and the Ellenor Hospice.

The Robbie Burn’s event was finished off with the ladies receiving a Scottish present to take home and the Provincial Prior leading the singing of Auld Lang Syne accompanied by the Scottish piper.
